Key Elements

yesterday evening 23 April 2005 (Saturday) at telok ayer
i attended a performance CLAP (community live arts performance) which feartured Key Elements as one of the performing groups. Finally met the Accapella Group in flesh! well they had a grand total of 3 songs only...

well at least the ah peks like it! a great step forward in sucess in pleasing one of the hardest group of audiences around us!

well actually my friend in Key Elements asked me if i liked the Jay Chou song 'Jian Dan Ai' performed last as compared to the other one 'Long Juan Feng' performed a long long time ago...
hmm... i have been thinking about it for a long long time...

(well... no offence CLAPS producer and volunteers... but the sound system was... ahem... not good...)

i personally feel that for an accapella performance, there shouldnt be ECHOS added to 'enhance' the performance. at least i believe the song will sound better without the echo, headache and sore ear... so its not fair for me to judge due to the quality difference (hey! thats one of my favourites leh! more than "tornado")
well thats basically the main problem throughout the night...
so it ended up feeling more like a GeTai than an artistic performance... haiz...

okay there were a few that the echos are appreciated especially by the aunties and ahPeks...
like the cantonese songs performed by a lady (susan, i hopt its correct)

well at least i heard something really happening at the outdoor performace at Esplanade.
Finally something right! something nice! something thats quality!
haiz... it was a friend of the friend's band or so i guessed...
nice drummer you've got there gal!!! YOU GUYS ROCK!
haha okay i was really high when i heard them make MUSIC... yes music not noise!

Boeing Boeing

well i had a hearty laugh non-stop during the theatre at Victoria Theatre last saturday (2/april/2005)
its nice to see how much local performances have evolved.
i am not clear of my preference for live theatre to TV.
a world class performance.
cudos to W!LDRICE for a job well done!

the 3 actress were really good and its clear that they did their homework if not throughly over the normal limits!
there's the SIA, Cathay Pacific and JAL. 3 airstewardess in their quest to find their runway for the ultimate touch down.

SIA is the what i would call the high class ahLian.
pure Singlish but not overpowering to put the audiences off. with just that hint of emphasis to tickle the sides!
Cathay Pacific is the oh-so-famous cantonese slang in the english. hard to copy but even harder to make sure the majority get what she's saying which is why the articulation was so wonderfully executed!
JAL, ahh the japanese girls and their kawaii accented english. i was really surprised and delighted hear the like-the-real english. its been my favourite to listen to her!

i must applaude the script-writer and their director and not forgetting the performers and the backstage people.
the props are wonderful and i cant stop thinking of that nice grey armchair.
the subtle political and racial touches to the whole prformance for that added laughter.
the layout and carefully directed play for that chair gripping excitement/suspense and that side splitting actions and deliver.

its been a while since i have laughed like that.
thank you for the wonderful night all of you at BOEING BOEING.
