Singapore Police Force Band 80th Anniversary
3rd September 2005, Saturday, evening show at Esplanade.
we celebrated the 80th Anniversary of the Singapore Police Band with a charity concert at the Esplanade.
it was fun and an eye opener to see the band in action outside the usual performances at those formal occasion and in a concert hall.
i met a friend of mine who's performing as the 2nd clarinet. its nice to see friends who were involved deeply in band stuffs still beliving in the area of their forte now.
for me, i've not been faithful and well somehow i'm staying and determine to make something out if choir somehow.
back to the concert.
there were the highlights to some girls there who screamed and got really excited when taufik came out to sing 2 songs. one of which was a favourite of mine "mrs jones".
to me besides that, it was the performance where the bagpipe performed with the band. the rythm and the pipe was just splendid! its a fresh combination to me and i just felt that i needed to get my hands on the CD if they ever have one with that particular song in!
i was part of the choir performing there and well its nice working with the SPF choir! thank you!
but seated at the choir stand, i saw a few things that i would like to really point out.
the man at the bass( the big big cello), hes really good man! the way he handle his bass and transforming to play the piano to taufik's 2 numbers.
yes there were a few hiccups but they should be overseem somehow although they are suppose to be professionals....
be it the technical hiccup or may it be the fear that grips you suddenly when performing a solo. believe me i know and appreciate that fear.
point to note to oneself. the food was fantastic! muahahaha oops..... hehheh
to the conductor and musical director of SPF band and choir~ Thank you for sharing the experience and joy with me!
